People are terrified of career breaks.

Almost every colleague I’ve ever had feels this way.

They feel they have to be constantly on the treadmill.

Even a month away could stop their chances of a promotion. Maybe they’d even get fired.

And half of those people don’t even like their jobs.

It’s a stressful way to live.

I never feared career breaks

I’ve moved countries a lot.

My resume reads like an all-day pub crawl.

I’ve had plenty of breaks. Like those two months in Europe when I thought I was moving to Berlin and ended up living in London.

Or those three months in Canada where I was… God. What was I doing in Canada?

Yet I’ve found myself highly employable. Always. Because employers want people who stand out.

But this isn’t about me.

There are plenty of examples of people who’ve taken time off.

They came back stronger than ever. And more importantly, they came back rested.
