In 2019 my husband I and tried our hands at surfing.

We started out in Sri Lanka.

Then we had lessons in Siargao — in the Phillippines.

Some lessons were good.

Some involved a lot of face-planting and swearing at the waves.

If you’ve ever surfed you’ll know how challenging it can be.

Surfing is a little like life

Sometimes things are going well and you feel like you’re flying. Other times you’re falling at every turn and you wonder how it’ll ever get good again.

It wasn’t until we arrived in Bali and found a new instructor that things started to change.

Adam taught us all the practical surfing tips that other instructors had.

There was only one thing he said that was different.

And it was a game-changer.

Life is supposed to be fun

He said, “the most important thing is to go out there and have fun.”

What a concept.
