The Simple Thing That’s Making You Unhappy
Look at this differently, and your world could be different too.
I was struck by a simple sentence this morning.
The words were from Rupert Spira, a well-known teacher on the nature of reality.
They seem simple enough.
But in that short sentence, not only is much of spirituality explained but so too is the reason why our happiness is so inconsistent.
In a Youtube conversation, he said,
“You cannot see white snow through orange-tinted glasses.”
Why happiness is so elusive
We’re often convinced that our happiness, or lack thereof, is down to a series of external circumstances.
It’s raining, my boss didn’t like the work I did, and I’m not very successful — therefore I’m unhappy.
In reality, happiness isn’t particularly connected to what’s going on around us.
Our happiness is shaped by our version of events — the lens through which we choose to view the world — while ignoring the fact that the true source of happiness is within.
