In fact, the need for short-term accommodation exploded during the recession, driving interest in the site. To this day Airbnb’s popularity continues to grow. The company is now valued at 113 billion U.S. dollars.
In the mid-1970s a bad economy wasn’t enough to stop Bill Gates and Paul Allen from launching a company that would revolutionize the world. Microsoft is now said to be the third most valuable company in the world with a market cap of 1.979 trillion.
The Great Depression proved inspiring for Walt and Roy Disney who founded Walt Disney Productions in 1929. The need for laughter and comedy at that time might have led to their initial success. Today, Disney is globally known with a net worth of $130 billion.
