Perfection is probably ruining your chances of winning
I knew a girl in high school.
Let’s call her Sally.
Sally was in my design class.
She was also a perfectionist.
In class we were set assignments in six-week blocks.
Most of the class would quickly get to work.
Making, creating, trialling things, making mistakes. Creating bad work, average work, and occasionally good work.
At the end of the six weeks, you could see progression. We all had something to show for our efforts.
Meanwhile, Sally would work painstakingly on one project.
And day after day little happened.
By the end of the assignment, Sally had one incomplete design –– barely enough for a passing grade.
Perfectionism is just fear in high heels
I think it was Elizabeth Gilbert who said that.
While you might think that having one perfect outcome is ideal.
That perfectionism is stopping you from having many good things.
