Why I’m Not Writing New Year’s Resolutions In 2023

This might be the most powerful year yet.

Since I was a young girl, every year I’ve written New Year’s Resolutions.

Typically I’m very productive in achieving them.

Whether that’s to move to NYC, become a digital nomad, go on a wild flying trip, or create a better morning routine.

And there’s nothing wrong with resolutions whatsoever.

They set your course for the year. And help you set your sights higher.

But 2023 has me rethinking the idea.

This year is different

My journey into mindfulness and meditation (after experiencing a truckload of anxiety in 2022) has taught me many things.

Learnings like:

  • Meditation can literally rewire your brain
  • Meditation gets significantly easier over time
  • Mindfulness can change your life and make you more present

The most important thing I’ve learned though is:

  • There’s nothing in the external world that’ll ever make you truly happy.

True happiness comes from within — a state that can occur regardless of what’s going on around you.
